My hair was cut waaay too short?

I went to a hairdresser and asked to have my hair cut down to 3/4 inch but somehow it was cut down to only 1/4 inch, I have never had hair this short and I really hate it now. I feel embarassed ad I cant stand it..What can I do now ? Can hair salon be liable for damage done to my appeareance?
